With three $1-million endowments and annual donations to over 30 deserving organizations, The St. George’s Society of Toronto continues to honour its distinguished role as the city’s oldest charity. Since before Dickens wrote “A Christmas Carol,” The St. George’s Society has been helping the needy in Toronto and supporting causes that matter most, when they matter most.

In 1834, we were helping newcomers with doctors, lodging and food. Today, we are helping kids with autism, funding medical research, giving youth the chance to attend university and helping the cultural life of Toronto thrive. Significant contributions have been made to help food banks, the elderly, the sick, street kids, veterans, the mentally challenged, the parents of children with cancer, the city's Aboriginal community and homeless single mothers.

Funds come from donations and social events, most importantly the high-profile Red Rose Ball. This annual spring event celebrates St. George's Day and honours a distinguished citizen with the Award of Merit for outstanding contributions to the community.
